Using a low voltage current transformer in high side ( 13200 V ) power

thank you guys for your promtly reply.busbar , to my knowledge a 15 KV insulated cable always has a wire to be grounded . Davidbeach , according to your opinion my friend s action is ok but what do you mean by "15 KV class gear " ?( I am not an electrical engineer)and you jbartos , if...

Using a low voltage current transformer in high side ( 13200 V ) power

A friend of mine is using a low voltage current transformer to measure the current is passing through a 15 KV insulated cable in the high side of a power transformer. He states that it is working ok and he is saving a lot of money in the instalation because instead of using the right 13200 Volts...

Why temperature difference not more than 10 degrees

thank you guys for all your tips. I am gonna set thermostat at 75F and see how long it takes the cooling system to bring the outside humidity, 90% , to 50% looking at a relative humidity meter

Why temperature difference not more than 10 degrees

hi 1969grad , I am talking about a bulding that has air conditioning all year around and about employees that they dont care how high electricity bill goes. I have been hired by the employer to find out what would be the right setting that he wont pay too much for electricity and in the other...

Why temperature difference not more than 10 degrees

Pennpoint , I am trying to become an expert in energy savings issues and I see that here at home the employees set the thermostst temperatures very low 55 to 65 degrees and they do not realize that the compressor has to work all day long trying to reach the temperature setting, specially if the...

normal confortable temperature for 90% relative humidity

thank you for your tip , penn point but I live outside the United States an usually the books get lost underway . I still think that with the current technology through internet one can get the right information, not only fast but also free. thanks anyway

Why temperature difference not more than 10 degrees

Thank you pennpoint for your promtly reply. the statement " not more than 10 degrees diference I have read it in acouple of technical documents but they do not define the technical reason ? does it have to do with the health of a person or what ? I am an industrial engineer and I am not...

normal confortable temperature for 90% relative humidity

What would be the normal temperature one shouls set the thermostat for cooling if the relative humidity is 90 % or above ? is there somewhere in internet a web page where I can see something like a table for a relationship between relative humidity and ideal thermostat temperature settimg ...

Why temperature difference not more than 10 degrees

I wonder what is the technical reason that the temperature indoors should not be less than 10 degrees of the temperature outdoors. If the temperature outside is, for example , 95 degrees then the temperature inside should be 85 but that is still unconfortable. Dont you think so guys ?

How to calculate KW losses in a unbalanced motor

GGoss , thank you for your tips but let me try to explain myself better.first of all , for me "dearting" means reducing , in this case the load but I am after the KW savings if no losses are generated because of current balancing based that voltage is balanced. therefore I thought that...

How to calculate KW losses in a unbalanced motor

I Know that if the current is unbalanced in a three phase motor , heat develops and the life of the winding coil is reduced. The formula to calculate the loss in KW is I x I x R but how do I calculate easy the R value in a motor , is it not a table available where one can read the % losses if...

KW losses in a transformer bank

a customer of mine has a trnasformer bank , 3 x 100 KVA , which 300 KVA totally, the Demand is only 120 KW and has capacitors to keep above 0,92 the power factor of the plant. the question is is there any KW losses at all because the transformer bank is over designed for the plant operation ? if...

Why Harmonics in a three phase motor ?

Thank you electricpete for the tip . the motor belongs to a customer of mine . I will se if he wants to disconnect the capacitors. Remember that they are there to improve power factor. Lets say that the current harmonics decreases without the capacitors but he would be penalized because of low...

Why Harmonics in a three phase motor ?

the motor is a standard squirrel cage three phase motor . it is running delta at 230 volts. the rpm are 1800. the readings are normal in the other motors . no unbalanced at all in current or voltage. the motor drives a stone crusher

Why Harmonics in a three phase motor ?

Today I measured again the current harmonics on the motor under regular load and it was changing rapidly between 10 and 15 % . --the 5th harmonic was the highest one . the measurement was done at the breaker of the wye delta starter , not right at the motor terminals. The breaker is located in a...
