    does IRC code require a footing arond the entire perimeter?

    My question is... does a footing have to run around the entire perimeter of the exterior walls of a house if the stem wall has open sections. In other words, can you put a footing only under the sections of stem wall that have a shear wall above them and have no footing where there are openings...
