    Should We Use Free Software

I wish my dentist can offer some free samples or service…

    Should We Use Free Software

dubourg I completely agree with you. But, I am surpassed that so many engineers are looking for free software, and I suspect many are using free software in theit projects.

    Should We Use Free Software

Should we use free software for our consulting projects or study. Is it ethical and safe to use unsupported “black box” software tools from unknown sources? If we are after free software, following the same logic, should we provide free professional services?

DEFLECTION ANALYSIS OF A 12 METRE CONCRETE BEAM

Deflection check of a 12m beam is not very simple. You cannot rely only on span-depth ratio. I would suggest to consider post-tensioning. The span is too large for reliable calculation of deflection in ordinary reinforced concrete.

    Plate Element Stiffness Matrix

This is easy, I did it before. There is a relatively simple way to extract a stiffness matrix from any commercial finite element software. The procedure is base on the physical meaning of the stiffness matrix. One column of a stiffness matrix represents a set of reactions to impose an unit...

    Structural

I was involved in finite elements software for suspended slabs. What exactly you are after: stiffness matrix, complete solution, or something else. If you are more precise, I maybe able to help you.

    membrane stress

I did two similar project like this before. It was a lift shaft covered by thin metal sheet. The load was a pressure on a small area, simulating a worker with tools. I performed a non-liner static finite element analysis, which worked very well. You may contact me directly on...

    membrane stress

This is not so simple problem. RISA3D cannot be used in this case. For simple geometry, such as rectangle there are closed form solutions. Or, you can try some general purpose FE package. You have to use geometrical non-linearity to get reliable results. Linear static is not appropriate...
