    Timber Truss Connection

Thank you jayrod12, Is this what you mean below welding the saddle to the gusset?

    Timber Truss Connection

Dead Load 1kN/m UDL and 6kN from ridge beam Imposed load 0.5kN/m UDL and 3kN. The timber beam size to take 6kN dead load and 3kN imposed load for 5.2m span would be 150x300mm deep.

    Timber Truss Connection

Thank you Jayrod12, If you don't mind, could you please draw a sketch that shows how to attach a knife plate to a bolted plate? Thanks

    Timber Truss Connection

Thank you guys for your help. The beams are not extended they are actually cut to fit either side of the truss. To create a 20cm overhang. How do you fix the face mount hangers to support the cross timber beams if we ignore the overhang and use the bolted plate?

    Timber Truss Connection

Has anyone got any experience in timber connections seems to be a tricky one as there's hardly any response.

    Timber Truss Connection

I totally agree with you. The question in this case, however, is how to connect the cross and outrigger beams to the truss.

    Timber Truss Connection

Hi All, I am looking for a suitable connection , it is a bit tricky.. I need to connect the top member to the bottom member (beam), also, where the top members meet, however, as the ATFN conceal beam hanger to timber beam junction is obstructing it is not possible to fix the top member to the...

    Timber fixing

Bolts should be used instead of screws, in my opinion. Also, request waterproofing details from the architect.

    Steel Frame Foundation

I'm not sure if anyone else came across a similar exercise. Could you please share your thoughts on the following: I'm currently putting together some work examples. designing Steel frame within an existing structure, steel columns attached to existing wall . I was wondering if it is possible...

    Timber to Timber cantilever connection

I can not see any issue with the connections if you are using M12 and 10mm plate thickness. If you are not 100% confident just glue them!

Thank you very much HTURKAK you are a star! I am not sure about the rules here but would like to connect with you. Thanks again

    Padstone Sizes

Thank you HTURKAK, You have been more than helpful. Just one thing 73+H=150? 73 is half bearing width + H = half of bearing length 300/2? Is that correct

    Padstone Sizes

Can you please work out and elaborate using the following example. I have 140kN load reaction from UB254 x 146 3 meter height of Wall stone 440mm thickness parallel to the beam. The beam bear 215mm onto 440mm long x 215mm wide 3 No courses of A Engineering break. So stresses under the beam...

    Padstone Sizes

Thank you buddy! Just need little clarification using an example! I got 120kN beam steel reaction 100 bearing on parallel wall 215mm thick , 3 meter high! If I want use Engineering brick 3 course, would be sufficient to handle the stress? I’m not sure what is the compressive strength of...

    Padstone Sizes

Thank you buddy, One more question. How can you determine how many courses are needed? is 23kN for 2 course means 23/2 =11.5 kN per course ? Thanks

    Padstone Sizes

Can anyone please explain how these maximum allowable loads have been worked out. I am going to use as an example of Blockwork strength 3.6 N/mm2 , length 215mm and 100mm width. To work out the maximum shear for the blockwork = (3.6 x 1.25/3) x (215 x 100) = 32.25kN, it is not as shown in...

    Overhang flat roof timber joists

I cant extend these 2 steel beams as they are below the joists level. I am thinking to tackle it as follow, the deflection is within the acceptable limit with this layout.

    Overhang flat roof timber joists

My issue is with the coroner.. I am not sure how can I support the overhang joists and fascia beam. I was thinking to extend the beam below but I am afraid it will ruin the appearance. The steel beams are with blue colored
