Maybe it's a too simple explanation, but could it be that by swapping the spindles, the caster/trail swaps to the opposite too? This would cause a very unstable streering and reduced self-centering.
A reason to place it on the rear of the disc is that it will unload the wheel bearings when the brakes are applied.
In the front it will put extra load on the bearings on top of the vertical load of the car's weight.
On the other hand, the available space on the rear might be less on steered...
Does anyone know if solid PUR panels are resistant to oil/fuel, and/or heat so they can be used as a, for example, bulkhead or passenger compartment floor?
The material seems to have a good stiffness/weight ratio. is bonding to metal possible?
I'm not a material expert, maybe someone here...
I think, besides the mix-up of strenght and stiffness, there is also a misunderstanding creeping in this thread about the way this strenght/stiffness influences the body structure.
Matthew (as far as I understand) calculates the bending stiffness of the aluminium plate itself. However, the...
I'm confused.
Norm Peterson says: "So if you’ve got a vehicle with a roll axis that slopes upward toward the rear you start out the transient with most of the TLLTD at the rear (oversteer, assuming all else equal)."
This seams logical.
But Matt Purdy's statement seems to say the opposite...
It seems to me that the roll moment has a much bigger influence on the body roll than the jacking force, since the jacking force is only (a small) one of the different forces that together balance out the roll moment.
in that sense, keeping the RC constant to the chassis will give the most...
I design suspension systems for coaches and busses (using truck components or similar) and I can tell you (as others have on this thread) that you can not do without shock absorbers, ESPECIALLY on air spring systems.
Shabba doubted that shocks limit travel, well at least in Europe they...
If you know what donor you want to use, try posting a question on a kitcar forum like http://locostbuilders.co.uk/
there might be someone using these same parts and willing to measure them for you.
