    DIY Flywheel

Thanks for the interesting info Tmoose. In the place in South-East Europe where I live no body has ever seen Chevy Corvair and may be just a few have heard of it. IIRC it has flat 6 engine, aircooled. Yes, I'm trying to move the FW to the gearbox side because input shaft splines are a bit deeper...

    DIY Flywheel

Hello guys, I'm sorry but it seems I put it in the wrong way. It is not about some real hybrid combo i.e. IC engine + el.motor. It is much more trivial combination of VAG group engine and BMW manual gearbox. There isn't any "ready to sell" item on the market. I have no other choise but to make...

    DIY Flywheel

Hi guys! It is time to ask again. My project car became too "hybrid" and now I have to build custom FW. I'd like to make steel FW. Please, would you advice what exactly steel I should use and all additional tips for DIY FW? My google research so far ended with few examples from 1040 SAE steel...

    Hypoid gear direction of rotation?

Guys, Endless thanks for your inputs. Seems I'll have to find another diff/rear axle solution. @ Fabrico Front 4wd axles usually have their diff assembled not in the middle of the axle which is a problem for rwd installation in a car. For those who are interested my manual gearbox is from 2001...

    Hypoid gear direction of rotation?

Hello everybody, Right now I'm in a big trouble with my rear axle differential. Short story is I need to turn the pinion(propshaft)in reverse direction to get forward move of the car. This is due to my gearbox which have opposite input to output shaft rotation. So if/when engine crank turns...

    Calculate HP/Torque from ECU parameters

Hi turbodelta, I like your work very much! Not exactly the answer you're looking for but could be accurate if inputs are accurate too. http://www.motorgeek.com/?fullpage=true&page=flowcalc

Addendum to the thread on the term "MBT"

Addendum to the thread on the term "MBT"

Hello all, In my understanding LBT means Lean Best Torque and is what one should tune for usually for cruise spead/loads. There is also Rich Best Torque when WOT tune is on the table. Here's a good video from one of the best dyno manufacturer...

    Twin Charging a Honda CRX

Hi patprimmer, are you familiar with VAG's 1.4 TFSI twincharging? I could find info for that setup for you. I believe TDIMeister could find it too.

    Variable displacement oil pump

Yeah, VAG group is using that kind of pum extensively in their small engines like 1.4L FSI/TfSI/TSI etc.. Think this could explain to you: http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_296_d1.pdf

    VR Engine displacement

As I remember due to the VR shape the crank has to be assymetrical (not like R6's one) or sort of to obtain equal firing intervals. Guess have to find and read it again.

    VR Engine displacement

Yeah, I,ve been there. VW actually build a lot of diesel engines in that factory too. There is dedicated room for Bugatti engines. As I was told production target of Bugatti engines is 3 per week. They didn't let me inside the room, just watched eng. assembling through the glass. These pics...

Cylinder Design: Bore and Stroke vs. Flame-front propagation

Hi, I think this would be very interesting article for everyone: http://www.theoldone.com/articles/The_Soft_Head_1999/ BTW the whole site is like a book. Happy reading

    Is it possible?

@ izzmus I'm sorry but have no idea.

    Is it possible?

Hi, It is load type Dynocom dyno with 24' roller but that doesn't matter now. If we assume about 15% tranny and tyre losses, that makes 445hp at the crank! How about that number at 6250rpm and 1,6 bar gauge boost? I just need some math here, is that power level possible "on paper" at least...

    Is it possible?

There's no corr. factor provided on the dyno sheet. I know that dyno is located at sea level. My question is about your approx hp estimation based on formulas though.

    Is it possible?

Hi, We are talking about 1,6 bar above atmospheric. @ LionelHutz, it is not my car neither a person I know. The dispute is between the tuning shop owner and a forum member. The main point of the member is that there is not enough air going through the engine at these rpm and boost(assuming AFR...

    Is it possible?

Hello all, In a local automotive forum there is huge discussion about a chassis dyno graph, which states that an 2.0L 16V (C20LET)Opel Astra car is about 388 hp@wheels. That power is reached at 6250 rpm and 1.6bar intercooled boost. Most of the internet calculators didn't prove that...
