Acetone as fuel addtive? Any real information?

Thanks again for the help. I had found that read through it after your first comment, but that thread did not provide any hard science on the subject. I (and many others) would really appreciate any help on the subject of thinning vegetable oil (beside heat)... acetone, kerosene, gasoline...

Acetone as fuel addtive? Any real information?

I used "search" and it turned up no references for acetone. If you say there was discussion, I'll look. Thanks

    Multi Spark Plugs

Mike, I studied that bucket T in Hot Rod magazine for hours as a kid to try to understand the principles. Looks like it could possibly lend itself to HCCI technology. Back in the 60's, a guy & his son replaced the distributor in a 62 Chevy, 327 with 12.5:1 CR, with a direct injection pump...

    Multi Spark Plugs

GM patented Plasma ignition in 1975, sorry for typo! It is a very detailed and very interesting read.

    Multi Spark Plugs

Multiple plugs in a hemi or pent roof combustion chamber sounds good (better than wedge anyway), but probably doesn't 'really' reduce detonation any more than firing the plug 20 times in a row adds power. Fire engines with gas engines had dual plugs and other duplicate backup systems. La...

Acetone as fuel addtive? Any real information?

Does anyone have an real information on acetone as a fuel additive? Please don't search the web... most references lead back to one single person's testimonials. My interst focuses primarily on thinning waste vegetable oil to run in my diesel truck.

DC generator braking for engine dyno

First off, restrain the engine, generator and scale as a unit; if you put a scale on the ground and load it, you may tip over a light buggy. Don't know what you have in mind physically, but I got that off my chest. Back in college- welding engineering- we checked large welders with a plastic...

    Straight six crank harmonics

If you want an exquisite V12, dig up an old LaFrance fire truck V12... 527 cubic inch, 215hp, gas, overhead valve and technically overhead cam, and only about 20" wide. Intake and exhaust come straight up from the top. They're usually low mileage and pretty cheap. It was designed by Pierce for...

    Waste Heat Recovery

I just submitted a few proposals to DOE relating to waste heat recovery... this is one... absorption refrigeration air conditioning. Probably won't find out till summer on getting grant to do it.

    1st Stage Cylinder Whine

I doubt seal would influence noise... white urethane u-seals last a long time, until they turn orange and crumble after 20 years. maybe switch wear ring materials... Is rod chrome plated? Combinations of materials work & wear different. Chrome rod on bronze gland is good. Aluminum glands are...

    Synchronizing Hydraulic Cylinders

In theory, a pair of double acting/double ended cylinders (area equal both ends of cylinders) offer a simple master/slave arrangement, but oil bypassing piston seals can allow drifting.

Meter In or Meter Out for hydraulic cylinder control

If you meter in, the cylinder may see lower pressure and and not leak as badly (I deal with lots of customers' junky equipment). This could be deadly as in lifting equipment (double acting hilo or dump bed for instance). Throttling a load on the suction side can result in oil vaporizing and...
