ANY SUGGESTIONS ON NDT TECHNIQUES FOR CHECKING OUT OPERATINAL PRESSURE VESSELS RUNNING AT 300 - 350 CENTIGRADE.
THE VESSELS ARE IN OPERATION IN A REFINERY AND WE CANT TAKE THEM OUT OF SERVICE AT PRESENT.
WE WISH TO CHECK FOR CRACK PROPAGATION AND SHELL THICKNESS.
Any advice on what parameters I should be looking at when considering using an existing 5000 tonne general refinery slops tank for a more specified duty, ie refinery slops and sour H2S slops.
What design codes / calculatiosn should be used ?
Cook a long link sauceage slowly in a frying pan.
Bring up the heat unitil is splits.
Waht direction does the sauceage skin split in ?
It splits in the axial direction everytime.
That is, it has failed due to thermal strain/stress.
The above is exactly the same failure mechanism of a tank or...
Apart from the obvious ways of disposing of refinery slops / sludge, can anyone advsie other ways of disposal.
Typical disposal.
Pump off and tanker away to landfill site.
Lagoon and evaporation. follwed by uplift and tanker away to landfil site.
Incineration (need info on this or websites)...
The small diameters can lead to problems if and when the caustic settles out or for what ever reason and comes out of solution.
This may lead to pipe blockage.
Better to design the system to keep the fluid in constant motion irrespective of flow path around elbows and other restrictions.
Think about using an orifice plate, although they can significantly change the system hydraulics if sized badly.
ie, the raw hydraulic power from the source shall have to overcome a greater hydraulice resistance within the pipe system.
Also orifice plates are generaly considered to be an...
