    7075 aluminium

Thanks. I am struggling with understanding what actually is the difference between a cast and a wrought alloy. If I purchase a block of 7075, hasn't it already been cast from a liquid state, or how did they make it? What makes one alloy a cast alloy and another a wrought alloy?

    7075 aluminium

Sorry, my mistake. It should be 1. Why is it ruined because parts of the metal has been liquefied? I mean it was once liquefied when it was cast, why wasn't it already ruined then?

    7075 aluminium

@CoryPad 2 and 5. Why yes on these? I thought the block once was cast from liquid aluminium. What mechanism is actually causing the microcracking in welded 7075? I thought if I kept it at elevated temp I could relief all stresses caused by the welding... @EdStainless Is it possible to find any...

    7075 aluminium

I have some questions about T6 heat treated 7075 aluminum. I am very thankful for any input that can help me understand the materials limitations better. 1. What will happen to the microstructure of 7075 aluminium if I keep it at elevated temperature (600C) for 24 hours? 2. If I have a...

NX8.5 Shell - Preview could not be computed

Thank you. Tried to make t into more parts, but when I add thickness to just some of the faces some material is added outside some of the other faces, and it is hard to trim this away. Will try some other ways too, but what I actually want to have it 3 mm all over to make a 3D-print, so if there...

NX8.5 Shell - Preview could not be computed

Hello, See attached part file. I'd like to shell the solid. Solid is made by through curves mesh and extrudes + sew. I am able to shell to thickness 0.01 mm, however I'd like to have it shelled to 3 mm. What can I do to be able to do this? Thank you for your...

NX 8.5: Designing a canoe. How to make a flat template from a curved surface?

Thank you! It took some time to compute the transformation, however it seems like it worked using Metaform :-)

NX 8.5: Designing a canoe. How to make a flat template from a curved surface?

I am going to build a canoe from plywood panels and am trying to make the templates for the cut outs. I have made a model in NX, using studio splines running along all joints between panels. I then used the swept function to make the flat surfaces between all splines. My problem now is that I...
