How to model the split levels

Hi, In one of my recent project we had two building with one common wall separating both and both had different level i.e. split level. I modelled it as per the attached file. I am facing following problem. When I am trying to run it says that check the warning in run folder but ETABS is not...

Eurocode safety factors for Heave and Water

Hi, For one of my under ground box Raft Design I want to use EC0 equation 6.10. I have tried to go through EC7 to get the "gama f" value for Heave but was not able to find it, I think it would be same as for other variable load i.e. 1.5. Further more when I want to make the Heave as...

FO Safty for Uplift in EC7

Thanks BigH, It is as you are saying. Do you know any good book on Foundation Engineering based on Eurocode?

FO Safty for Uplift in EC7

Has any one used the EC7 approach to check the uplift or buoyancy as I have tried but couldn’t find the required factor of safety which was 1.1 as per BS 8007. Is there any solved example one can go through.

lateral load to slab due to earth pressure

Thanks Lise, actually it works if we uncheck the 2D option from the advance modeling option.

lateral load to slab due to earth pressure

Can anyone please let me know what is the best way to apply the lateral load to slab due to earth pressure on the slab of a burried box? I had tried to apply 10, 000kN/m via null line over the wall in its local 3 direction but it has no effect on the deflection of the slab.

Etabs- Horizontal Shear Due to Vertical (Dead Loads)

Alok, I think there must be some sway in the frame becuase of which you are getting such a huge shear force I had run a symmetrical frame of 20 storey and there is no shear in the pier.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=b9b62fec-f15e-47d8-9d69-1e91fb206d34&file=123.EDB

Combination of Heave and Water Pressure

I am designing a building with 6 basement and as it is low rise we have to go for raft. As there is heave pressure along with a water head of 22.5m I am not sure that whether in floatation check I have to include both heave and water pressure or one at a time. Similarly in Service and Ultimate...
