Not a bad idea I suppose; but in this case the entire vacuum bed needs to be used. I've accepted the debris in the vacuum flow as a fact of life; even if I went to great measures, I still think *some* debris would be in the vacuum flow, and I can't exhaust any debris into the factory.
Hi, I've installed a piece of grinding equipment in the factory where I work that has a vacuum bed to hold down the work pieces going into the machine and a dust collector to collect the debris inside the grinding cabinet. The vacuum for the vacuum bed is created by a standalone blower with a...
UPDATE: I did submit an application with only 1 reference, however I received word back from the Virginia DPOR that it's "incomplete". They did give me a small window to find two more references though. I'll try to dig up a couple more.

I'm an industrial engineer from Virginia who has been out in industry for almost 4 years. Before I graduated, I took the EF exam and passed. I've been waiting to get enough experience to sit for the PE exam(Virginia requires a 4-year degree + 4 years of experience), and now I'm starting to...
TripleZ, I did take the Industrial Engineering manufacturing lab and although it was a basic introduction to mills, lathes, etc., I didn't feel confident in machining anything and I still don't today. It all boils down to this: I need more practice. I'd prefer manually operated machines, but...
Techshop is a fantastic idea! Unfortunately the closest one is in Durham, NC(3 hours away). Maybe I can talk my boss into sending me down there for a week to take a week full of classes.
mrainey, I have a pretty good understanding of the machines already(and I've even used a mill and lathe...
I've been interested in taking a real machine shop class for years, but haven't had the time. I now have the time, but upon further research I've found there aren't any local community colleges that offer true machine shop classes. My boss let me know that my company would be willing to pay for...
Hi guys, I've got a custom process(on an assembly line) in which I need an air powered component to turn 'on' after receiving a signal from a sensor. For this application I'll need a 2-way solenoid valve, of course, but I don't know what Cv value I require. I'll use the following tool(which I...
