To those who suggest turning the OD,I gotta say give your head a shake.Impossible This "can " is 100 inches long and 30+ inches OD. 3/16 wall thickness.The runout can easily exceed the thickness of mat'l. Since it is rolled from plate, a nice OD means a nice ID. Since "actual" diameter is...- kevb

Rolled Cylinder
My company is involved in the rebuild of a magnetic drum separator.Why are we having trouble with the actual "can"? This drum is slightly more than 8 feet long and is 30.25 ID.Material is 3/16 thick stainless plate It is very difficult to get an accurately rolled can. We do have SOME latitude...- kevb

Hog Manure - New EPA Guidelines
I have read this thread with some interest.The technique of injecting manure into the soil could help with disposal and contribute to soil quality.Does anyone have data on soil tolerance to this injection?how much manure could be placed per acre? Does the equipment exist to do this. Thanks...- kevb

The most common formula for speed(RPM)is 4X cutting speed(of work material) divided by diameter(of workpiece or cutter) this is easily worked out mentally- kevb

Machining for a seal fit.
Any machinist should be able to hit this tolerance. Especially if it's a "one of" situation. CNC equipment can repeatedly do this all day long. If this is a regular lip seal,this tolerance req.is probably a typo.Four tenthousandths is not necessary for proper sealing action- kevb
