    Flow and Loss Coefficients

Can someone explain the difference between Cv and Cd? Also, is there an equation to convert between Cd and Cv? I have a reference to this equation for finding the Cv of a valve: Cv ~ 38*A*Cd A=cross-sectional area Cd was assumed to be 0.6. I do not know where this equation comes from or...

    Maximum Pump Capacity

I am pumping a non-viscous fluid between two vessels. I would like to find the maximum possible pump-out rate so that I can determine the appropriate vacuum protection for the source vessel. Would using the point where the pump curve ends be appropriate for this? I have seen other methods...

    Maximum Pump Capacity

I realize this is a simple question, but I would appreciate any help you could give. How is the maximum capacity of a pump determined from the pump curve? Do the suction and discharge pressures affect this analysis?

    Relief Valve Capacity

I am trying to calculate the capacity of a relief valve. The manufacturer gives capacity data in SCFM of air at 60F and the set pressure + 10% overpressure. My sizing case is a fire case, therefore the allowable overpressure is 21%. The data is given at 10% - how does this change the capacity...
