    VW DCC semi-active dampers

HI all, VW has their new DCC "dynamic chassis control" system that uses semi-active dampers. Anyone know their system bandwidth? Similar to GM's recent magne-ride incarnations? This vid suggests bandwidth is similar - enough for low-frequency bumps but not high frequency ones...

Camaro ZL1 / MR dampers / "track pack"

Hi all, Anyone heard why the "track package" omits the MR dampers? Cheers.

Tire slip angle diagram: wet vs. dry

Hi all, Does someone have a link to a tire slip angle diagram, so I can see how it changes from dry to wet? I want to understand why tires behave the way they do in the wet (e.g., cornering force past the peak at very high slip angles, is a larger % down from the peak, in the wet vs. dry, or...

    Road surface model

I digested it, <burp!>, and I learned something, but the author didn't touch on the subject of the distribution of the road displacement. IIRC a random input variable can be described as having a given spectral density, and a distribution curve. For example, noise with a flat spectral density...

Does chassis rigidity diminish over time / age ?

So some cars do break welds or sheetmetal - the BMW "clown shoe" Z3 coupe rear shock towers comes to mind. For cars that don't outright break stuff, do spot welds degrade or microcrack or fatigue or something, over time, from age and normal use?

    Road surface model

Thanks for the tip! I will go and digest it.

    Road surface model

Bueller? Anyone? Would a probability density function of instantaneous acceleration, with a spectral density function, adequately describe a given "type" of road surface?

Does chassis rigidity diminish over time / age ?

How about a car in the absence of extreme abuse nor rust? Do spot welds weaken over time from "normal" use?

Does chassis rigidity diminish over time / age ?

    Especially torsional rigidity? Cheers.

    Road surface model

Hi all, I've built a simple quarter car suspension model which I am using for my own education. Does anyone have, or have a link to, a road surface model, for use in a quarter car model? I've seen power (or amplitude) vs. frequency distribution plots, but these are good for linear systems...
