What kind of EDM should I use?

That's a good idea sending it out as a test. We use about 600 cutoff punches per year at a cost of $100,000. And we spend a lot of time hand grinding.

What kind of EDM should I use?

It appears from all the experts on this forum and from what I've read,I need a wire edm. There is no plunge cutting involved. Just a side to side cut at one end of the punch. As for surface quality, we cut our punches on a linear surface grinder. So what type of finish would that be and how many...

What kind of EDM should I use?

The accurancy I need hold is +/- .0005. Made to order punches will not work. We custom fit every cutoff punch we run to the coil that is running. Each coil is different. If it varies by more than .005" , The cutoffs will not make the part.

    Spaceball 3003 problems in NX3 w/usb port

I am trying to get a spaceball 3003 to work on UG NX3 using a USB port with no luck. Our computers have no serial ports, only USB. The 3003 has a serial plug. So I bought a USB to RS232 adapter cable thinking it would work, it did'nt. I installed a driver for the cable, and 3 drivers that I...

How to Delete Members of Sketches already used in Features?

This always works for me: Find the "remove parameters" tool button ( not sure where it is, it might be under edit pulldown ). click it, window in all your lines and the feature you created, you may even need to go back to your original sketch, and "enter". They are no longer "tied" to one...

Is there a Screw & Dowel plug-in program for UG?

HI, I've worked on General Motors UG and they have a neat screw and dowel program. You set the screw or dowel parameters, pick the two mating blocks and presto! the screw counterbore and matching tap are ed for you. When I left GM and went to an outside design house, they model each...

    CONVERT UG TO SDRC Ideas

I need to convert a Unigraphics file to Ideas. I know how to IGES it out and import it from Ideas, but the problem is I have numerous ( hundreds) of items that need translating. It would take far to long to iges each one separately. Designing in UG is much easier than doing it in Ideas, for me...
