I spend the first full day trying to track down a "buy and install" opener, there are no units available for this weight of gate and looks how the customer wants it. If anyone sees an opener thats FULLY hidden and can handle 2000 lbs, I would be very happy.

I do not this that type of crank you describe is a dynamicly balanced crank. I have done work on drum style brush cutters and balancing was a big problem. Its easy to build a STATICLY balance crank shaft, but when it turns it could shake like mad. Thats why you see cranks in funny...

Maybe Im out in left field here, but I thought to measure Kinetic COF you tilt the base plate so the object sliding down the hill does not accelerate. If the item comes to a stop, you will have to know the speed of the item before you tilted the base and that would get tricky to calculate.
