    removing oil from metal plates

What is the best way of removing FUCS oil from plates that have just been through a fine blanking process? My company is starting this process and we are needing to know the best way to remove the oil from the plates. Is there a need for an alkiline wash? Or can we just fine blast the plates...

    concnetration

i am titrating with NaOH. I am not using a kit, I am using a hand tirator. I have water in a tank. I am adding a power phoshpate to the tank. I take a 10ml sample from the tank. Adding pheynthaline to the sample and then adding NaOH until a color change to pink. So how do I know how much...

    concnetration

How can i find the acutal amount of mg/L after i titrate? I know how much NaOH I am suppose to add to get the correct titration. But how do I find mg/L? I have a tank with water. I am adding phoshpate and I test the concnetration with a hand titrator. I use a indicator. I get an amount of NaOH...

I need to test for rust

Is there a company that checks metal parts? I need to test for rust. We are having trouble determining if our parts are rusting or just over phosphating(too much iron phophate). So my boss wants to send some parts off and see if someone can tell me which one it is. Thanks

    Phosphate color change

my boss wants to know if there is some reagent to drop onto the part that will react with the phophate to give a visual reaction to tell if its phosphate or even if there is one we can use to see if its rust.

    Phosphate color change

apparetnly we dont have an analytical balance.... so, now i have to see what i can use. any thoughts??

    Phosphate color change

I think the phophate tank is getting extra water from the rinse tank nozzles facing the wrong direction, i was also told that we might have a leak. so it automatically adds water but we manually add the phosphate, so if it goes unchecked it will make a difference. and i think they might have...

    Phosphate color change

I went and checked the concentration check. The pre-phosphate had a reading of 16ml and the phosphate had a reading of 14.5ml. We are getting gold on the parts, I am having a hard time telling if its rust of just too much phosphate. Is there a visual test for rust? All I have been told is, "if...

    Phosphate color change

We dumped and did an acid wash 4 weeks ago. (phosphate) We have dumbed and refilled the rinse tanks 3 days ago. We only use 10ml from the tanks to run concnetration, ill have to run and do that. I get off in a few mins, but I am going to do this first thing monday morning. THANK YOU!! Check...

    Phosphate color change

To be able to have pictures of what is good and bad would be great. All we have are verbal discriptions and those arent the greatest. I cant contact the supplier, that dont speak english, great right? We go by this scale. COLOR COATING WEIGHT (MG/FT2) Pale blue 10-15 Medium blue...

    Phosphate color change

Thank you for replying. We are using iron phosphate. I cant give too much info so if I sound vauge, Im sorry. We go by a color scale or coating weight, to know if we are in range. We dont have powder on the parts just the violet gold and gray color. We use water as a pre-cleaner of the parts...

    Phosphate color change

I am still over phosphating parts. I cant give too much detail but I can give this much. My pre-rinse is at a pH of 5.93 and a temp of 47C my pre-phosphate is at a pH of 5.23 and a temp of 49.3C my phosphate is at a pH of 5.13 and temp of 50.7 my cold rinse is at a pH of 5.76 and a temp of 51.5C...

I have to see how much info I am allowed to give before I can ask. I work for a company who does not want to give away info. Let me find out and Ill ask again in a way that might be easier to understand. Thanks again

    Bromocresol Green

I need to know how much of a difference there is between Bromocresol Green .1% and Bromocresol Green .2%. How much does it matter. I know it indicates a differnce of .2 in pH, but does that really matter? I am titrating phosphate with sulfuric acid using Bromocresol Green as the indictor. And I...

    n10 sulfuric acid

I will be using 10ml of phosphate liquid, bromocresol green .1% indicator and titrating with sulfuric acid. im thinking they are wanting 0.1N sulfuric acid and its just written wrong. they have it written as n10 and I think that is what is throwing me off. we are testing for free acid, that is...
