    50km Long Steam Pipe Line

If you do this be sure to install a parrellel line to return the full steam load as condensate. Also, you will need many manholes (the size of large rooms) to house the necessary steam traps. The condensate from the steam traps then can be returned or pumped back to the steam plant. If you...

    Running different pumps in series

It would be best to avoid having these pumps in series. They could be installed in parrallel with check valves on the discharge of each pump. I am at a loss as to the reason for having two mismatched pumps in series.

Water Hammer / Pressure Surge in Sanitary System

One way to prevent water hammer is to install a return loop. And tap off of the loop at each user. This will provide a contineous flow to keep the system flushed with sanatary material and allow flow to each user.

    Estimation of resident time

When the inlet is at or near the tank bottom, and the outlet is at of near the tank bottom, the residence time is how long the material takes to travel from the inlet to the outlet. To have any residence time then the outlet or inlet must be at a different level, which would be an unusual design

Thermal Performance of Unknown Shell & Tube.

Prior to installation the unit should have all flanges trued up. During removal and storage the flanges, especially the piping flanges may have been slightly bent. This may not be evident in visual inspection. This would cause leakage of the coolant and process fluid. Also the flange rating...

    Work Permit during Turnaround

Recommend having area and equipment checked for flammable vapors at the beginning of the shift and also at the end of lunch prior to stating work in the afternoon. There are also circumstanses where a contineous monitoring must be done.

    soluable oils, recovery

The plant uses water soluable oil for a metal forming operation. We wish to: 1. treat this as sewage and discharge to the environment. 2. Recover the soluable oil and reuse. 3. The soluable oil residue may be mixed with other wastes, and may need to be treated prior to discharge. I am not sure...

    Vacuum blanket

I would recommend using nitrogen to hold tank at 1 to2 inches of water. With a control valve to release pressure at about 8 in. w.c. Also a relief valve to discharge to atmosphere at tank design pressure. A vacuum relief from atmosphere set at minus 2 in. w.c. If the relief goes to a flare...
