Part Design Features within Sheetmetal Design

Hi COE, I have a part that was created in sheetmetal design initially and handed to me. Unfortunately, I have added a whole bunch of features to the part. The features are linked via external elements to an assembly. In drafting, I am unable to see these part design features - I assume due...

    CATIA Macro not Loading

Hi JeniaL, Original script hasn't been changed. When I try and run the catscript, I get the attached error.

CATIA Drawing - Front Projection not displaying properly

Hi all, I am trying to create a drawing of a 3D assembly. I have chosen a face to project a front view, but the part ends up being rotated in the drawing view. First time I've had this issue so if anyone is able to help, it'd be most appreciated. Attached is a screenshot of 3D view vs drawing...

    CATIA Macro not Loading

Hi all, Hoping someone is able to assist here. I have been provided a macro which populates and re-sizes title blocks to suit different paper sizes. I have pasted the script into C:\Program Files (x86)\Dassault Systemes\B18\intel_a\VBScript\FrameTitleBlock. In Tools>Macro in CATIA, the script...

    Reference Geometry/Publications etc.

Hi Tiago, Further to your post. If your parts are drawn in absolute position, then am I correct in saying they are no longer parametric? I.e. if the external parameter moves, your Part geometry won't update. What do you mean by this: 'make the construction with the all needed external references.

    Reference Geometry/Publications etc.

Hi Tiago, Thanks for your response. You've got a valid point. What I try and do as much as possible is retain the same absolute geometry across ALL parts. Therefore, I"ll always create a new part in the main assembly to achieve the same part origin, and the re-locate it in the assembly before...

    Reference Geometry/Publications etc.

I have a question RE: my workflow logic and want to see if it makes sense, or if there is a better way to do this. Say we have the following structure Assembly 1 Product A - Part A.1 - Two tubes that are parallel. - Part A.2 - Part A.3 Product B - Part A.1 - Instance copied in as reference...

    Coincident mate with shock absorbers

Great, thank you for that. I'll need to redefine some coincidences to achieve this, but that looks like the best solution. Thanks Kevin

    Coincident mate with shock absorbers

Hi all, I have somewhat a trivial question but can't find a solution. I have a sub-assembly of a shock absorber. It is represented as two fixed parts with a coincident mate to make the axial direction colinear. No other constraints exist. The shock absorber is imported into the assembly and...

Using reference parts to design new parts

Thank you very much itsmyjob. This has worked a treat. Best Regards Kevin

Using reference parts to design new parts

Hello Eng-Tips, Long time reader, first time poster here. In CATIA I'm trying to solve the following problem: 1) I am modelling some suspension arms with bearings and have 3 co-ordinates in XYZ which define the pickup points. 2) I have a product which contains: 1 part containing XYZ...
