Checking for welds that connects two UB section

Hi centondollar, thanks for the response. We initially proposed single side full penetration butt weld, however the contractor changed to partial butt weld. There are moments and shear force from the member output, should I check the welds for moment induced tension together with the shear?

Checking for welds that connects two UB section

Hi all, How can I check the weld size (red hatch) for a twin UB section as shown below? Should I consider moment in my checking? The welds are along the member to join the two UB sections.

    Check Moment for Weld Connections

Hi all, thanks for the response. The red line is actually column piles below, below is a sketch that shows part of the framing plan. The MB1 is supported by the piles with a spacing of 5m, the SB1s connect on two sides. Considering pattern load, I understood that there is torsion in MB1, but...

    Check Moment for Weld Connections

Hi all, I am checking the weld connection between the SB1 and MB1 as shown in the picture uploaded. The SB1 is sitting on top of MB1. I wonder the if I need to check the tension induced by hogging moment in SB1 for the welding? Some argued that the moment was taken by the member itself...
