    Longitudinal & Transversal Moment

Hey, I know it's a silly thing to ask, but I kind of forgot such terms. Is the moment about the local x-axis (as shown in the figure), transversal or longitudinal moment?

Reinforcement Detailing between Slab and Bridge

But if I develop the steel from the bridge into the slab, and that of slab into the bridge, NO MORE HINGED CONNECTIVITY! Any suggestions??

Reinforcement Detailing between Slab and Bridge

Hello mates, so here's the issue. I have 2 towers connected together at a certain level with a bridge. I've done my analysis, and hinged connectivity between bridge and the floor slab was structurally the best. My question: does the detailing presented in the attached image, by not providing...

Post tensioned slab - cable distribution

Yes it's a 280 sq m residential floor slab. Never mind of the numbers in the jpg they're irrelevant in this matter... & yes there are 2 balconies: one at the bottom and one in the left. I only did this since I was asked to take post tensioning as an alternative. It will be compared later on...

Post tensioned slab - cable distribution

Hey there, attached is an image(preliminary one of course) of a post tensioned slab. Does it seem to have anything wrong concerning cable distribution (for example spacing between adjacent cables, etc...)? p.s. cables in horizontal direction: 4 strands per cable / cables in vertical...

Achieving pin connection in concrete by rebar extension

Thanks all for your valuable replies. Let me make it more clear. Referring to the attached image below, shall I develop the reinforcements till the end of the wall?!!http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=27e62c38-49e7-44df-b279-53f641e11346&file=Beam_Reinf.JPG

Achieving pin connection in concrete by rebar extension

Hey, by what value shall we embed the beam rebars into exterior columns, so that pin condition is achieved? I've previously heard that it's (0.1-->0.15 * effective depth), is this true?

    ground improvement techniques

Hi every one i am doing a research about several techniques used to improve the bearing capacity of the soil i found a lot of techniques used but what i didn't found the effect of using for example stone column on the bearing capacity of soil can any body send me please a guide how we use this...

Websites listing costs of steel, concrete, plywood, etc...

Hey there, are there any specific websites that list global and local costs of such material? The site I used to rely on seems to have shut down. Thanks in advance.

    Drift exceeding allowable limits

@ johnbridge231 thanks for the reply, and yes I've tried Rigid connections and it slightly reduced the drift, still exceeding 0.02. Here's the thread containing the analysis results if any help could be offered: http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=333719

    Fatigue in concrete Rigid Connection

Hey everyone, I need some help in understanding fatigue in concrete rigid connections due to high moment, and due to cyclic wind & EQ forces. Any links, pdf files, etc provided concerning this matter would be of much help. Please check the attached image. I am particularly referring to fatigue...

Preferable Connectivity Type for a Bridge Linking 2 Towers

Hey, I'm having a project where I have two 130m-towers linked by five (7m*7m) bridges. I've excluded the cases of Rigid-Roller & Hinge-Roller after making models and analyzing them, but I'm having a difficulty in determining the best structural connectivity between Rigid-Rigid, Rigid-Hinge, &...
