Dear All
When undertaking an analysis with the cap plasticity model, I get the following errors in the *msg file:
***ERROR: SYSTEM ERROR IN CAPADJ WHILE TRYING TO ADJUST THE TRANSITION SURFACE: DSCRM = -983.28 291136 4
Does anyone know what this error is caused by?

In my offshore drained clay analysis, I have been trying to vary k0 with depth in the clay to model overconsolidation. I am using the porous elasticity and modified cam clay constitutive models. However, when I run the geostatic step, even before the input file is processed, the following error...
I have a 30 m long cylinder made of 3-D shell elements. I have constructed a reference point at the centre of the cylinder at the top and kinematically constrained the surface nodes to it. I have left all degrees of freedom unchecked. Have applied a displacement boundary condition at the...
I am modelling a 3D cylindrical shell embedded in solid elements around it. At the top of the cylinder at the centre, I have kinematically coupled the reference point to the shell surface and applied vertical load, horizontal load and a horizontal moment at the reference point, for transfer to...
Hi.
I need to apply a moment load to the top of a hollow cylinder which is made of shell elements. I shall highly appreciate it if someone can give me some guidance on how I can apply this load in ABAQUS. Attached file shows what I need to do.
Many thanks.
Kind regards,
Aliasger
I am modelling a geotechnical problem using a 3-D cylindrical shell (S4R) in ABAQUS. I get the section moment force (SM) output but I would like some advice on how I can obtain from SM2 the resultant bending moment with depth?
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Aliasger
I have modelled, using Abaqus v6.11, a cylindrical laterally loaded pile of shell elements surrounded by a solid block of soil. Is there a way to obtain bending moments at the pile nodes using the program itself? I tried the CM output but all the values are reported to be zero.
Any assistance...
I have created a 3D model of 2 solid parts and 1 shell part. I created mesh sets for the 2 solid parts but when I apply initial stress conditions using the input file, the following error is displayed on the .dat file when I run the input file:
AN INITIAL CONDITION HAS BEEN SPECIFIED ON ELEMENT...
