Have a customer that says they've done this before. I've never heard of nitriding 625. Maybe it works, seems like not enough iron content though.
Anyone done it?
I have a project that I'm working on that requires a constant force (adjustable) to be applied by a double acting cylinder. Force only need be monitored in the extend direction (0-2500 lb f).
The setup looks very similar to a log splitter, but will have a load cell placed between the cylinder...
We have an opportunity to take on a project that requires weld overlay of a part that requires a wear resistant overlay. Basically, the part (4130) has a rectangular track in which a roller bearing rides back and forth (we will overlay the track). I've done a little research, and noticed that...
We've encountered an alarming rate of pinholes in our clad work lately. Trying to nail down the problem. Argon tested good and no leaks. We are welding on 4130 under a WPS that we've used for many years. I'm beginning to think the defects may be caused by the consumable. We are using Arcos brand...
Does anyone have a spec for this material? I have a customer that wants to have end caps welded on the R95 pipe. I am not familiar with this material.
Thanks!
I have a situation where i need to extend a large bore hydraulic rod and act as a clamp against a workpiece. But the workpiece will begin to move during the process and I need the hyd rod to follow with it (retract) and maintain a set, adjustable amount of pressure.
A simple pressure relieving...
I am currently on a project requiring building some pipe bending shoes and rollers that will come in contact with very hot metal. The workpiece blank (low carbon steel) will be heated to about 1600 deg f and then sent thru the bender. It will be in contact with the shoes/rollers for quite some...
I have noticed that there are several software packages available for writing a WPS according to ASME Sec IX. Has anyone used software to write a WPS? If so, can you recommend which one to buy?
I have many projects that require Inconel 625 to be weld inlayed into various oilfield equipment (valves, etc). The Inconel is inlayed into 4130 steel and then put through a stress relief cycle of 1175 deg F for 3 hrs. Can anyone tell me the relationship between the said stress relief cycle and...
NACE MR-01-75 says that maximum allowable NI content for alloy steels in sour service is to be less than 1%. Is there a restriction on weld metal composition with regard to NI content under the same scenario? Is this also set at a max of 1%?
My first post on this forum... A pleasant surprise to find this place. I have a project that requires joining 5/8" thick material of the grades listed above. The first coupon was performed with an E80xx (GTAW) and subsequent passes with e100xx (SMAW) fillers. The coupon failed hardness. Preheat...
