Does anyone have a good source for shear/torque strain gauges?
I have been using these (below) forever but they are now end of life/discontinued.
I can’t find any other in this price range. < $15 pc.

Hi,
I am in search of an H-Bridge motor driver for a brushed DC motor.
I have been using the l6206 but it is too expensive to keep using. Can anyone offer an alternative with similar ratings? 5.6 A Peak, 24 VDC. My inquiry is coming up short.

I have some small (4”x4”x2”) porous aluminum castings that I would like to seal for a low pressure application <10 PSI.
I do not have a way to vacuum impregnate these in house, nor do I want to send these parts out at the moment. I have found some 2 part, brush on sealants...
Hi,
I am having some difficultly with a strain gauge measurement and I am looking for some insight.
In a torque application, I see a drift with my strain gauges (2 half bridges on opposing sides of the shaft). I am calibrating them using 2 known points to create a calibration line. It appears...
Hi all,
What could do this to Celcon M270 in a matter of a year, see attached? Picture shows a 1 year old deteriorated part, next to a new one.
The part was untouched/Static condition.
I have no idea what it was exposed to at this time.
This is what I have been referencing...
Hi everyone,
I am trying to spec out a throated worm shaft on a drawing. Does anyone have a good link to information about the required specifications when spec’ing out a throated worm shaft (no specific drawing standard) or an example of an already called out throated worm shaft on a drawing...
Hi,
I am a Mech-E trying to design a current overload protection circuit to a small 24VDC brush motor.
The idea is simple, if the motor draws 2-3A, the circuit trips and shuts off power to the motor.
My problem is that it needs to be both auto resetting and work at high temperature (20 -...
Hi all,
I have 2 versions of the same small 24VDC brushed motor. (Same commutator, same brushes, same wire).
The only difference is that one version has a ring varisitor, one version does not.
The version without the varisitor consistently has a performance life of more than 10x as long as...
Hi,
Does anyone have any good web links/resources for laser etching practice? Handbook for Laser Etching engineering?
I have a laser etcher that runs well with Carbon Steel but poor with Nickel and Brass (even after playing with some settings). Also will sometimes will run inconsistent.
I...
Hi everybody,
I have a gasket that is repeatedly splitting in the same spot. I am looking for some help understanding the stresses that are causing a gasket to split.
Looking at the attached picture: the gasket is splitting from the center hole to the outer radius where indicated by the red...
Hi everybody
I am trying to measure 120/240 VAC with a DAQ system that has an input range of 0-10 VDC. I have to imagine there is an off-the-self ratiometric transformer or ADC that can accomplish this.
Does anyone have suggestions for a simple off the self product?
Thank you
Hi all.
Is it possible for something to cause a ultra fast semiconductor rectifier diode to a temporarily act as a short and allow reverse current flow? Temperature, Voltage transient, etc.?
I have some diodes that were claimed to be allowing reverse voltage for an extended period of time (1-5...
Hi,
Does anyone know a High temperature (350-400 F) adhesive and protectant I can use for a simple strain gauge on steal?
Most of the time I can just use some form of super glue for an adhesive, can not for high temperature.
As for a protectant I can normally can just use electrical tape...
Hi,
I was looking for the proper way to define and over-sized tapped hole, along with a source to find this information.
It is and M3 x .5 and I am using a D13 over sized tap. So .013mm * 13 = 0.169mm oversize pitch diameter.
Would the proper form be something such as "M3 + .169mm X .5"...
Hi all,
I am looking for some advice.
With a small 24VDC 5 brushed DC motor is there a way to do a simple field test to determine whether the motor “good” or not? The only thing that is accessible, is the motor leads.
I put the word good in quotations because obviously this is a relative term...
Hi,
I have two parts, one made from 316 SS and one made from 17-4 SS. They were both exposed to the same substance, I don't know what this substance was but it corroded the 17-4 until it fell apart and left the 316 SS in mint condition. Does anyone have any thoughts on what kind of of...
To all,
I have a spool valve that will show a small leak under certain parameters and I can’t explain the phenomenon. I was hoping someone had an idea or thoughts on what I am seeing.
It’s a 4-way spool valve; 1 inlet, 2 outlets. Operated at 80-100PSI. Viton O-rings.
What I am seeing is a...
Hello everybody,
I am just for advice from experience on where to purchase some strain gauges.
• I am using them to measure torque on a 1/2” steel shaft. 10-300 in-lbs.
• I need a full bridge due to slightly elevated temperatures. ~150 F
• Unamplified signal into a DAQ system. Maybe a 5V...
Hi all,
I was looking for some advice on setting up an experiment. I just am looking for something simple, compact and rigid.
I am looking to apply and measure torque (via DAQ system) to a small shaft. I have leeway with the shaft design, it will be attached to the female end of a ¼” socket...
