I see this a lot on drawings. This part has no GD&T applied to it, therefore our Sheet Tolerances apply.
Dimensions 30 & 50 are centered on the centerline of the part.
Do we assume the size tolerance IS ALSO the position tolerance, to sheet tolerance.
Do we assume there is "Implied...
Anybody have best recommendations for a slippery surface with the lowest wear rate?
Examples:
Teflon on plastic
Hard Anodized Aluminum on Teflon
Hard Anodized on plastic
This will be sliding wear. One will ride over the other.
Looking for a plasma cutter to cut 3mm aluminum panels. Looking for high resolution accurate cuts.
Anybody have recommendations on a plasma cutter table? Want to use one with a hypertherm cutter.
A fiber laser would probably more suitable for this but they're too expensive.
Looking to invest in a fairly small laser cutting machine. We want to cut through 3mm thick aluminum. Any brand recommendations? Fiber Laser cutters seem to be the way to go, just not sure what machine to be looking at. Cheaper the better, as these don't look cheap.
Is this legit? I can see what this is trying to accomplish, but is there a better way to do this or is this fine? I was under the impression you can only use diametrical callouts on a circular feature.
We press 2 round shafts together. One piece stainless, the other ceramic. We require a specific pull force, and as of now we sometimes get good parts and sometimes bad parts. Parts are not large, they're about half an inch big.
Are there are things to consider when trying to achieve a...
First thing, I'm not an electrical guy, but I'm trying to figure this out.
I have 2 Type T thermocouples. One connected to an Omega USB-UTC that is connected to a laptop, the other connected to a Heater Controller that uses a PID controller
Both of these thermocouples connectors are fastened...
We've tried the Solidworks Inspector package. We HATE it. It is so buggy, and doesn't do basic things that we'd like to do. We've called Tech Support numerous times and have gotten the "This is a known issue" lingo. We're pretty much done with this one.
QA-CAD located here looks promising...
I've been assigned to start MBD (Model Based Definition) our models, for tolerance analysis', and possibly use the MBD to carry over into drawings. This is not the actual Solidworks MBD package, just the DimXpert that's built into Solidworks.
As quirky as trying to dimension parts in the model...
Would it be acceptable to use a diametrical position call-out on a square feature? Trying to use a circular tolerance zone to control this, but I read somewhere you can only use the diametrical call-out on a circular feature? Can anybody explain this in detail?
What material do people use for Impact Staking steel parts? We used some 4140 and the part wears pretty quickly. It was quenched and tempered to 46HRC.
We used some S7 also, quenched and tempered to 46HRC and that wore out even faster.
Suggestions? I'm thinking 300m but I thought maybe there...
Any suggestions to drill about a 3/4" hole through a rubber stopper? I'm thinking a really fine tooth one, but I haven't done this before. About a 2" deep hole.
The part is about 3" OD 6061-T6 that is also fairly hollow. This will be coated in Nylon 11. I require tolerances of plus-minus .0005. Reason for this tolerance, guaranteed interference fit.
Obviously, they can't coat to that spec. I now need to rely on machining the nylon. It's a coating...
Long story short, we only have 1 person in the company that knows how to program and use the CMM. This is frustrating because when we have conflicting results, there is nobody else to bounce ideas off of, and double check results.
There was a recent conflict about CMM vs Bench Checking parts...
I'll make this brief.
Goal:
Both Cross-holes to be centered to each other
Axis of the Cross-holes to be centered, controlling both X and Y component in relation to Datum E. The Y component is more critical to control than the X component.
What I have so far:
Datums A & B True Position to each...
This is not for sealing purposes. This is purely for transmitting torque. I've designed an Aluminum Flange that bolts onto the back of a steel rear differential flange. How would I go about calculating stresses purely from the bolt preload, thermal preloads in extreme conditions, and also in...
Looking for a post process operation such as tumbling, sand blasting, etc to get a more uniform and hopefully reflective finish on some forgings, so we can anodize after and have a really nice looking part without finish machining. Trying to make look as good as actually machining, or close to...
Any advice for a specific material recommended to hold crossholes accurate to one another? I was thinking of making a tube with a very accurate OD of about 1.2505" and leaving the ID unmachined. It would be 3-4" long and installed like a pin in before heat treat to prevent distortion.
I would...
Long story short, making a tube with internal splines, and some other geometry on one end. I require a hardness of about 52HRC through hardened for it's mechnical proerpties, just hoping it won't be too brittle.
For the broach to go through the part cannot be any harder than 32HRC. My plan was...
