actually if we use 0.40%C and 0.72%Mn and grade C40,EN8 or EN8D raw material for any part and forge then normalise its raw material hardness max 179 BHN.
can u suggest how to...
sir would u tell me how to check c % by chemical analysis.
actually i have checked incoming raw material but result not come accurate and std result also not correct.

i have get one customer comlain regarding crack observed during assembly of socket.he told to us its raw material crack .
can u told me that how to identified crack by eyes that it is raw material crack ,heat treatment or forging.
can u tell me how to look like all forging ,heat...
I want to disscuse very simple issues but it is happend 2-3 parts in our heat treatment process.
part name Socket 304 wt per pc 0.520kg,material used EN8D C%-0.42, Mn%-0.85 and Raw material hardness is 179-187 BHN
loading per tray is 180 pcs
normalising temperature is set 860 degree and time...
