I have some reactors in a corrosive service. Heads are 30" 300# flanges. They were installed with studs. See attached photos
The corrosion between the stud shaft and flange itself locks it up tighter than whatever you can think of that is really damn tight. We can get both nuts to break free...
Hi All
I am researching a new design for a separator in acid service (rules out 100% metallic construction) and am looking for some industry experience... Background:
- horizontal tank
- about 8ft diameter, 15ft long
- body flanged at one head (full tank diameter)
- there is a large baffle...
I've got a ASME SectVIII DivI pressure vessel with some CUI. Overall wall thickness inspections have determined we need to derate from 50psi MAWP to 40psi MAWP. Generally for a derate we just change the rupture discs and relief valve settings to the new lower pressure.
However for this vessel...
Hi, I am x-posting this from the storage tank engineering section as I have not received any responses there in the last week. I can delete that thread if I get some activity here.

Hi All,
I've got a few rubber lined storage tanks in aqueous HCl service (~32-36%) at ambient pressure/temp. In reviewing some PM requirements, I came across some notes about maintaining a minimum acid concentration to protect the rubber. Liner is PG-70 natural rubber.
Problem: Low...

"Iraqi engineers involved in building the Mosul dam 30 years ago have warned that the risk of its imminent collapse and the consequent death toll could be even worse than reported."
Hi all, I've got three main questions I am curious about. All are more specific to 'non-metallic' gaskets (Examples being Sigma 533, GYLON 3510, GORE UPG) but I am open to other responses as well. Most of my experience is 150# to 300# service, raised face flanges, <350F temps.
1) Where you have...
This question is related to this one here (I can delete that one if this violates the crosspost rules, I have a slightly different question now so I am leaving them both for the moment)

Anyway, short and sweet review. Getting some tantalum lined pipe made. Its 18" DIA, 150# flanges, etc...
I've hit a small snag in one of my current projects. I am fairly certain this project falls under B31.3 as process piping in a chemical plant in a code state (KY). A manufacturer is fabricating some tantalum lined steel pipe for me. One of the parts is a double-mitered elbow. Category D fluid...
Does anyone have experience with using sulfamic acid to clean C-2000 equipment?
I've found literature for C-276 in 10% sulfamic (0.002 mils/yr) but nothing for C-2000. My main concerns stems from the Copper in C-2000. Our contractor acid cleaners use sulfamic but have a note in their...
