Hi all,
In a normal axial tranmission check, we would check the weaker strength floor for axial transmission i.e. design as a short column and a bearing check.
In the case that I am querying, the slab passes the short column check using enhanced concrete strength but does not pass the bearing...
Hi all,
can someone remind me how to draw and calculate the correct strut and tie model/ (force through the reinforcement bar) to show how the ground floor slab helps take out the eccentricity from precast wall landing eccentric from the supporting capping beam?
i know it works but i just cant...
Hi all,
Can anyone explain to me if torsional shear is included into shear V2 output if you were to assign each individual wall as a pier? I want to be able to extract the right load for manual spreadsheet design...
to give a background -
I have designed the core as a 3D pier, using P/M2/M3...
Hi all,
I am aware that we can use VQ/I to design for longitudinal shear in a planar wall/ 3D wall.
However, my question is if there is torsion in the shear core, how do you break down torsional force back into shear force for design? it makes sense if it's a closed box (T*/2Ao).
However...
hi all,
is it possible to use strut and tie modelling in precast wall (deep beam) - 2 stories tall.
I understand that you can use wet joint to connect the tie together but what would you do at the horizontal joint between precast on one floor and the other?
Dear all,
I was wondering if you can help shed some light in my dilemma about Etabs as a lateral stability analysis tool.
Previously under my first company, I used to do a full etabs model and extract individual wall pier forces for design in a manual spreadsheet. This was all clear and is...
