I was looking over this P&ID and not familiar with the standard of diagrams used here. Anyone familiar with these that might confirm what they are please?
1. Expansion joint?
2. Centrifugal pump?

I've come across this design for a shaft that can be held in with a plate. Is there a proper name for this? By looking at it, it appears to be that the purpose is to have a smaller bolt that can take the torque, the further away it is from the shaft. Are there other examples of this used commonly?
I am trying to solve for maximum shear stress on a notched round bar being driven by a direct drive motor giving torque T which is also machining something with a force F as shown below.
Max shear stress where Ip = polar moment of inertia of the cross section with respect to the center

Hi all, stuck on a problem here if anyone knows about this stuff..
I have a simple coil suspension and damper linked to a wheel. I have found a formula for the load carrying capacity of the tire that includes the displacement. When sizing the spring, do I simply subtract the tire displacement...
I'm trying to size a shock absorber for a seat. I found a helpful website but when on step 2 shown below, I don't see what is meant by the drive force. Is this just the weight x 9.81?
Isn't the weight already covered in step 1? Also, if there is a g force. Isn't the weight in step 1 and 2...
