There is a manhole in the property driveway that was raised by adding 4 meter rings a long time ago, about 24 inches. WE are raising the driving slop and the subcontractor added 3 concrete rings about 30 inches. Totally the manhole was raised 54 inches.

The contractor for shotcrete and soil-nail retaining wall want to wait until there is 7-9 days of continuous sunny day in forecast to start. It is impossible to find such a period until summer.

I hope to have a smooth finish of the shotcrete wall but my contractor said it is not possible to do some hand trowel to smooth it because hand trowel will compromise the integrity of the wall, causing cracks in the wall.
Is it accurate?
We are working on options for a 20 feet tall retaining wall. The problem is the wall will be 1-5 ft from the property line. Soil nail is an option but the nails will be drilled into adjacent property and it is a headache that we hope to avoid.

We are brainstorming for the client project. The lot has limited buildable land with a big hill in the back. The client wants to explore the option of cutting down the back hill which resulting in 20-25 ft wall.
One option is building the house with the 20ft concrete back wall flush against the...
Most of the projects I have seen use both soil nailing with shotcrete retaining wall to stabilize a slope.
I do rarely seen shotcrete spraying onto the slope alone. In what case does shotcrete alone adequate for slope stabilization?
