Should there be any regard to condensate on a snuff steam line? does it matter if the branches come off the side of the snuff steam header? Is water hammer a concern? In my particular case I am talking about snuff steam going to ductwork on an oil seed extraction plant.

Does boiler blowdown piping need to have sweep elbows (3 x radius) or double 45* elbows? I have some info from a boiler inspector requesting this on our blowdown piping but can not find any documentation to support this.

A piping contractor recently made a comment on our piping saying that we should add a spool piece in between valves for "maintenance purposes". Has anyone else heard of this? If the valves allow I have always put them flange to flange to avoid extra pipe and fittings.
