Operating Pressure : 8 bar

In our country generally , we use ASTM A53 SCH 40 SEAMLESS MS PIPE in HVAC (Chilled Water Piping , Cooling Water Piping) System .
What's the actual guideline or reason for this ? Can we USE SCH 20 MS Pipe or GI Pipe ?
I am running a 750 gpm Split Case Centrifugal Pump . It has positive pressure in suction side (Pump Inlet is connected at lower part of reservoir )
But whenever i start the pump , the pressure gauge at suction shows negative pressure . Is it normal ?
Also what will be the Net Pressure ...
