Has anyone found some good “toys” or other objects that mechanisms can be made out of to visualize forces and motion? Sometimes it’s better to physically manipulate something rather than seeing it on a computer and 3D printing is expensive
Is the coefficient of rolling friction the same when the object to be pushed is as rest as it is when the object is already in motion. Intuition tells me the rolling resistance is higher at rest, but I cannot find a resource to prove this. Any help is appreciated...
Does anyone know of a good Autodesk workflow for designing a structure with moving elements, such as a drawbridge, or a dome with a retractable roof? Is there a way to use Revit as the base design program for all of the structure and still design all of the moving parts and simulate motion...
Is shear stress through a flat bar evenly distributed through the cross section,or maximum at center and less at the extreme fibers? If it is maximum at the center and decreasing outwards what causes this?
How do I apply loads to only one side of a pin hole? The surfaces that come in with my geometry when I import a step file don’t line up on either side of the hole, but rather top and bottom. The pin hole I am analyzing has a force pushing to the left, but I am not able to represent that with the...
Can chapter G of the AISCM be used for a built up beam subject to longitudinal shear, but obviously using the correct cross sectional dimensions? A=web length*web thickness
