    TILT WALL DESIGN SOFTWARE

What's the best software for concrete tilt walls? Or cast-in-place walls for that matter. Must be able to add openings to the analysis. JP

DETERMINING SECTION MODULUS FOR AN ODD SHAPE

I am analyzing a side bottom rail beam on an intermodal shipping container. Does anyone know the "S" value on this in in3? Or have a software to quickly calculate? I know I had do by hand but don't really want to unless no resource is out there lol.. Attached is the section view.

    Iyc

How do you calculate Iyc? I am looking for Iyc of a W10x45 or similar. Would be nice if they had a table for this value for all standard sections. Want to make sure I can use formulas H1-1a by meeting Iyc/Iy guidelines.

    Welding on a Beam

I have the below scenario: How do I resolve the force being applied to the welds given a max shear and a max moment (developed from shear-moment diagram). The orange dots represent locations of the fillet welds. Channels are 15" deep. plate is 36" deep.

    Steel Composite Beam Design

I’m looking into use three beams to make a composite beam to resist moment in the x-axis and also shear. One will be a 1.25” flat plate which will be sandwiched between two C-channels. I was thinking placing three bolts vertically in the web with them being 2’ o/c the length of the beam. Is this...

    Lifting Beam (Below-The-Hook Lifting Device)

I've been tasked with designing a lifting beam. I am studying/going through ASME BTH-1-2017. Regarding pinned connections in chapter 3, there is (4) modes of failure. The first three modes are tensile strength, single plane fracture, and double plane shear strength... the formulas yield an...

Cantilevered Beam Equation for Max Moment

Hello everyone, I got a question.. may be a simple one for most of you.. what's the formula for the max applied moment on this Beam shown on the FBD below...? (it's cantilevered out over two pinned connections.. symmetrically)
