To simplify this question, let's assume we have a square shaped part.
2" x 2" x 0.25
This part will be welded on all 4 sides, so the edge quality is of little importance.
The software we use is requiring a gap between parts. The machine has sensors that supposedly will "perfectly" square up...
Currently we drill a hole in a 3/8 piece of aluminum just to holt a t-handle in place while its not in use. What I am thinking of is something like a tire balance weight that just crimps to the metal but I can't find what I am looking for. See pictures below...
