Square drive socket - loosening prevention

Hi there! I'm wondering how they are manufacturing the groove inside the square socket of hand tools? I'm familiar with the through hole versions and their dimensions (https://www.engineersedge.com/hardware/square-drive-tools.htm), but I haven't found anything on the groove sizes and methods...

    Measurements to Excel

thread560-493796 Hi everyone, Can someone with knowledge explain to me the attached code in the referenced thread? I've got a small part where I measured surfaces. I want to export the Area parameters to an excel/csv. Preferably with the feature name. Thank you all!

Irregular square-like feature. Square symbol applicable or not?

Hi, It's time for me to revisit my old friend, the square symbol. The star shaped bar is a torque-transfer mating interface for a BLDC actuator. Parallel planes are 7.44 mm at the given distance (there's a measuring section plane not shown). I want to get lazy and not dimension everything. Can...

    Spherical vs diametrical tolerance zone

I've got a valve ball with a shaft and the ball is located relative to the shaft axis and the flange above. Question 1: Is the sphere locating position tolerance only 2 dimensional parallel to B when not adding the "S" before the diameter symbol in FCF? See the pictures. (transparent teal...

Composite lower segment not related to datums - Figure 11-35

So there's the fig in 2018: Because the lower segment permits rotation relative to A does it mean the actual surface could be at angles like these? EDIT: ignore my crappy job in the sections, imagine the contour is the 2 mm wide upper segment. I know it's the curve :)

FCF leader lines - is this legal by Y14.5?

I've done this on many drawings when I worked with ISO but now I'm an ASME guy and never seen it this way. Still doing it because it's easier on very simple parts.

    Interrupted profile tolerancing

Hi. I have a part, attached below. This is a press die holder. A loose fitting die will lay inside the funky shaped area (highlighted). Drawing view: Now the problem: First I want to control the die area going from the 15 mm opening to the bottom thickness of 5.9 mm. Second I want to...

Multiple single segment with dynamic modifier

Hello, This probably has been discussed before, but what's the difference between the two callouts below? !EDIT! : profile applies between A <-> B. Forgot to add that under fcf. MSS without datums MSS with dynamic, w/o datums.

Sheetmetal - Bead on a bead possible?

Hi there, Is there a possibility to add a bead/punch to an existing bead? I'd like to achieve a similar result as pictured below. I've tried Punch, Punch&Die, everything I could but it just doesn't work. This bead is for socket wrench clearance, see below. I want the "punch" to be a 19mm...

Composite position of hole pattern on cylindrical part

Hi. Question is about 4x M5 holes location in image below. Am I right that Datum B doesn't lock rotation in PLTZF? And it doesn't take part in the lower FRTZF (just have to be there), Datum A locks 1 translation, 2 rotation Datum B locks 2 translations Datum C locks 1 remaining rotation. If I...

Boolean practices - Assemble vs Add/Remove

Hi everyone, I'm curious how everyone is using boolean functions. I'm a fresh Catia user and learner around a year experience and I started using boolean at my current job. I was on a training where I learned the multibody method and it's pros/cons and the operations which it uses. I know what...

Can I draft these two surfaces?

Hi. Question is the subject. How can I draft these two surfaces separately? When I select the purple cylinder, it selects the sphere also. I know a workaround for this, but I'd like to know whether drafting can make it happen.

    How to disable warning pop-ups

[link thread560-252516]Link[/url] Has it been resolved? Its over 13 years this thread was posted, and I haven't found an answer to it elswhere. Few weeks ago, I was on a CATIA training and when the instructor used Save Management and checked the "Enable independent saves" box he didn't get a...

    Rendering view switcher

Hi, I'd like to have a macro that switches between perspective and parallel views regardless of which workbench I'm in. Currently I have 2 keys on my Spacemouse for each view but in Part wb the switch from perspective to parallel pops up an error. 3Dx built in command list is a complete mess...

    Geometrically controlled datums (?)

What is the difference between left and right Datum callout? They mean the same thing or not? I read somewhere they are different but that source failed to clarify.

Profile of surface combined with dimension tolerancing

Hello everyone, I'm overwhelmed by the amount of information regarding GD&T profile and I can't seem to find my answer here (or I got exhausted trying to understand all the information) We have a small part with a sphere surface. Based on ASME Y14.5-2018 is this dimensioning correct? I'm...

Error removing 2 intersecting fillets with Remove Face

Hello everyone, I'm building a die casting model and I encountered this problem: The part has 2 fillets connected (pink and blue). The blue one is cut down by a pad, previously it was a normal R=1 mm fillet. When I try to remove the two faces I get an error message. (attached below) When I...

    Multi turn wave spring

Hi Everyone, I'd like to model a multi turn wavespring for a test project. The only info I found is a pdf catalog containing some basic knowledge. Is it possible to model the wave spring using the catalog data? I haven't come across Curve from Equation or Laws before, so this is completely...
