    Flare Bevel Groove welds

    Hi! I need some insights on the flare bevel groove weld. In the AISC Specification table J2.2 for the effective throat of flare groove welds, can you go lower on the value indicated in the table or is it already the minimum? May I have a link to the reference if there's any? Thanks!

    Clarification on punching shear on slab on grade

    Is it still required to check the punching shear on the slab on grade that is assumed to be unreinforced? According to the paper 'Load-Carrying Capacity Concrete Slabs-On-Grade Subject To Concentrated Loads' by Victor D. Azzi, Ph.D., P.E., and Ralph H. Laird, punching shear failure is a possibility.
