critical zone friction factor
For Re between 2000 and 4000 the flow is unstable and there actually is no definite friction factor. Churchill's equation does give unique values in this range, which makes computer solutions feasible but you should avoid this zone in practice. All the reboilers I have worked with have had the flow control valve in the steam line feeding the reboiler, and a steam trap in the condensate exit line.
