    Definition of Anisotropic Material

I am modelling a circular structure subject to tension and bending loads. I need to use equivalent material properties due to it's complex internal structure and the surrounding components that are also being modelled. I have some test data for axial, torsion and bending stiffness but certainly...

Calculation of Bending (Lateral) Spring Stiffness

Is there a simple formula for calculating the bending (lateral) stiffness of a coiled helical spring ? I see lots of information on extensional and torsional stiffness but nothing on bending. All help would be appreciated.

    Plane Stress Analysis

I've trying to do a plane stress analysis but it would appear you have to create your mesh in the x-y plane. Is this true and if so how can I correct my error ? I don't want to re-mesh yet it seems impossible (?) to rotate the whole mesh as areas etc are attached. Thanks,
