I still do not understand why 25 does not address changes to existing buildings ??
1. Added enclosures, with no protection added.
2. Change in storage configurations.
3, etc...
This may be a question for some that have been in the industry, for awhile.
I saw these at a hotel.
They also had bulb sprinklers in other areas.
I have not seen these before. Just seeing if anyone else has??
Maker?? And maybe model?
They were in a bar area
Thanks...
So I hate NFPA indexes,
An active water flow signal, I thought some where in NFPA 72, it says it cannot be silenced/ reset while active flow condition.
The question more to being able to silence a fire alarm panel.
You pick the edition and section
Thank you
Say I have two buildings on the same lot, say 20 feet apart.
Both have separate wet risers in them.
Owner decides to join the two buildings and make one.
So the fire sprinkler system is extended from one of the existing risers.
Per NFPA 13, is it legal,:::::::::
1. To connect the two...
Pendent
Regular pendent sprinkler/ non moving deflector
Installed with drop in ceiling.
How far below drop ceiling does the deflector have to be??
I thinking install per manufacture?
NFPA 13 sections would help if any
So what "separation" have you seen allowed as not to require fire sprinkler protection?
If you have a canopy or similar, what separation from the building have you seen approved, so as not to require fire sprinkler protection??
One, two, three feet or what?
As a designer what would you require?
Anyone approve or use Flame stop to meet NFPA 13 for noncombustible or limited combustible?

Say someone wants to do a new small pipe schedule system,,,
Can they run, to the building, the same pipe for domestic and sprinkler?
And tap for the sprinkler, as long as they take the domestic use in??
Does NFPA 13 and 24 allow this?
I saw this question and wonder what the answer is:::
Any issues with installing sidewall sprinklers under exposed corrugated steel decking if direction of spray is parallel with the flutes or is the decking considered a smooth flat ceiling regardless?
For Texas
Say you have a building with a fire sprinkler system and monitoring only fire alarm.
You add one audio/visual device in a suite, does that violate TAS/ADA
Advisory 215.1 General. Unlike audible alarms, visible alarms must be located within the space they serve so that the signal is...
So say you have a five story hotel, made out of wood.
The stairs are completely enclosed. typical set up
1. is sprinkler protection required at the intermediate landings?
2. or is it the intention of the one at the top to protect the intermediate, depending on the layout.
3. 8.15.3 uses the...
So 20 plus year old sprinkled building.
Originally a food store, but has been vacant over 10 years.
A mercantile store wants to come in and occupy a portion of the building.
Plans submitted showing 120 sq ft spacing on sprinklers.
1. No hazard specified.
2. No hydraulic calculations...
I thought there was recent discussion on this.
Have not inspected a new fire pump in awhile.
FPE involved in plan review and installer to test it
Just wondering
Non seismic
Non high rise or similar
Can the fire pump be mounted directly to the floor?
Latest NFPA 20 edition in use .
Say a full NFPA 13 system, will not get into occupancy type.
Say it is offices.
And each office has a regular size closet say 3x4 feet.
And the building plans show "Drapery" covering in place of door.
But show no sprinklers in closet?
Is the drapery an obstruction and sprinkler needs to be...
I saw a question on another site, and had not heard it before.
So say you have an apartment with four stories above grade.
NFPA 13R is allowed.
What if the same building had four stories residential below grade, also???
Can the 13R still be used through out?
Any of the NFPA 13 standards, or CVPC manufactures say what the material is supposed to be for tenting??
And/ or specifications of that material?
Thanks
This question was on another site.
I think I know the answer, just want to post it and see what comments come back.
"""
In speaking with some sprinkler contractors, a comment was made about the glass bulbs in sprinkler heads. The comment was that small scratches could occur if they or...
NFPA 13 2013 or other edition
I am about 90% sure it is there.
I though somewhere in NFPA 13, it does not allow a shut off valve, between the dry pipe valve, and the high pressure switch?
Help, am I dreaming? I know I have researched it before.
