    Eye bolt vs. Lifting lug

    Is it better to use a eye bolt or a lifting lug? I have a 30 mm thick plate(ss)thats going to be bolted(6 bolts- 16mm) on a 1000 lb pump. Can I use either a eye bolt on this plate or weld a lifting lug on the middle of plate to lift this pump? If I use a lifting lug, whats the minimum thickness...
