I have an application where I have four electric cylinders pressing down on the lid of a cart to press a laminate material together before the cart goes into an oven. There are many different carts so I cannot run the cylinders to a position, I am using the current pulled by the motor.

I am looking at how to run a ball screw at very low speed,(1 inch in 12 minutes), to push a 1000 lb load.. I would prefer to use a servo motor, but because of cost i am being asked to look into using a DC Motor. Does anyone out there have thoughts oin this and reasons to go one way or another...
