I am looking to design a road plate to carry a point load right smack in the middle of it. The Road plate would be supported on all 4 sides, however i feel that assuming that the plate is only supported on two sides and would only be bending in one direction is very conservative. Does Anyone...

How would you analyze a pin to pipe connection, where the pin is perpendicular to the plane of the pipe. The pin is connecting to a shackle, which will be pulled perpendicular to the plane of the pipe and the pin. The design is not a simple shear plate connection.
