    Since you have only discrete mises stresses, it is hard. If you can somehow get the stress components, then using *initial conditions,type=stress.

    That means your UMAT is not properly writen. Strain softening is not the direct cause. Check your jacobian.

    100Sec is too large to use xpl. Try std, contact pair, surface to surface, finite slide contact.

    I did this before. Use python to extract the exterior boundary of the deformed specimens and call cae mesh modulus after in the same python. Then you can play with the newly generated mesh with whatever you want. Contact abaqusdr@gmail.com if you want further help.
