GE Distribution Data Book - GET-1008L

GE Distribution Data Book - GET-1008L Just wondering if anyone out there has a link to the latest copy of this old but valuable resource. I have one titled GET-1008L which looks to be dated 10-1972, but have also seen screenshots of newer versions. So far my internet searches have turned up...

    Risk of Islanding Evaluation

OP I don't know if you are still actively monitoring this thread, but check out this Sandia Paper. http://energy.sandia.gov/wp-content/gallery/uploads/SAND2012-1365-v2.pdf It's something we typically follow to determine if there is a risk of islanding, and if we need more detailed modeling...

Aging Infrastructures for the Utility, Condition monitoring & assessment: General Thoughts

Anthony I appreciate the response. It seems like the general feel is that Utilites do fine in terms of reliability, for the most part, only spending what they need to to maintain equipment. And it seems like, in some instances, this is enough. i am sure it isnt in other cases.

Aging Infrastructures for the Utility, Condition monitoring & assessment: General Thoughts

cranky, Thanks for the reply. So you think that Utilities are pretty good, typically, at replacing aging equipment and maintaining reliability. I don't have a lot of information to back that up, but I would agree, otherwise the regulatory bodies of those utilities would be all over them. I...

Aging Infrastructures for the Utility, Condition monitoring & assessment: General Thoughts

I have been tasked yet again to try and poll my peers about a topic, Aging Infrastructures Condition monitoring & assessment for the Utility. Anyone on this forum actively part of a Utility program for monitoring their equipment for replacement? Any general comments on how well that works...

General Thoughts on Smart Grid: Related to Distribution Planning

Interesting thoughts. Seems like the community is somewhat apprehensive about smart grid and are waiting for some actual standards to come out with proper definitions etc. I believe IEEE is working on something now. In general, I think smart grid is meant to reduce peak loads, increase...

General Thoughts on Smart Grid: Related to Distribution Planning

David, Thanks for the response. I realize that it's fairly broad and vague and this is how it was presented to us, so I suppose it's up to me to take it where I feel it should go, as the student. As a whole, I think it might be captured as a system wide communication pathway, where devices...

General Thoughts on Smart Grid: Related to Distribution Planning

As part of a graduate class, our professor asks us to write mini research papers on different topics, one such is Smart Grid. He also asked us to reach out to the global engineering community and post in a forum to see what people, other professionals, thought about smart grid. So here I am...

    Negative X/R Ratio: Aspen Model

I double checked my impedances, and found nothing negative, everything looks to be properly entered into the program. I didnt add any new three winding transformers, though I did add two new two winding transformers. And when I take the new portion of the circuit I added out of service, the X/R...

    Negative X/R Ratio: Aspen Model

Good morning, I was surprised to find my model showing a negative X/R ratio this morning when using Aspen to model some faults. Any thoughts on this? I am a bit confused as to how it occurred... Thanks Caleb
