So it looks like the boolean is the problem...I'm really never in the lucky condition of being able to embed the boolean directly in a revolve/extrude or whatsoever.
I do have generally a "complex" body to unite/subtract plus some additional feature (like blends) to add later on
Again thank you
Is there any way to get same result with two instances, where the second refers to the first one?(I'd like to understand how the layout option "Refernce" under "Pattern definition" works)
Thank you very much for your suggestion.
Nevertheless, my goal was not to simply have slots and blends, rather to find the correct way to link a new instance (blend) to an existing one (subtract).
Hello users,
I've uploaded a simple test file which explains the problem I'm currently having with instancing of edge blends.
Thanks for your kind hintshttp://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=9736fe76-2b85-4766-9c42-f6473aaa02e9&file=test_pattern_feature.prt
Good afternoon to all users,
I'm trying to instance an edge blend using an existing feature pattern as a reference in NX8.5: I've tried all sort of settings but I couldn't get my blend properly patterned! Furthermore, I get a warning message ("Edge blend cannot be patterned without its body...
Thank you cowsky,
the last part of your reply is actually what I mean: whether that algorithm is something "hidden" (i.e. intellectual property) or it is a "simple" application of formulas or methods publically available in the specialized literature.
Good morning to all members of the forum!
I was wondering which algorithm does UG use when drawing a spline through points: I'm studying the mathemathics behind Bezier curves, Bsplines or Nurbs in order to understand how it works but, for the time being, the only theoretical reference I could...
Hello John
Thanks for the very accurate technical explaination of what could be the root cause of my problem.
For the time being, I will live with it :)
Goodbye and have a nice day!
Hello Michaël,
first, thanks for having given a try to my model. Then, It has to be said that the curve that flips is always the section no2 (the no1 is ok, it is important for the face normal) and that I don't specify any direction in the expression file.
The string that is used for the...
Ok, I have just uploaded the .prt file which has the issue together with two expression files.
Part file comes with the "39.exp" parameters' list already built-in, and if you feed the model with the "40.exp" you will see where and how the problem occurs.
Many thanks for your...
Hello John,
unfortunately I cannot upload the entire part. I can try to extract only those features involved in the problem.
In any case, thank you for your interest!
Hello John,
Thanks for your reply.
I uploaded an example of what happens: sections to be swept are not in a sketch but come from a "trim curve" feature.

Good morning everybody,
I'm struggling trying to avoid that one section curve of a swept feature get reversed after an update of the model (e.g. new set of parameters). Do you know any trick or workaround that would solve this problem?
I'm using UG NX 7.5
Best regards
Bruno
Hi John,
I tried your trick but actually it didn't work... I still have to update manually each table by entering and exiting the spreadsheet.
It takes really a lot of time!
However, the most annoyng problem is that I have to suppress and unsuppress the linked sketch in order to update the...
Still not... I have to wait until Monday morning :)
But there are two other points:
In the same drafting (actually a PARENT file) I have a Linked sketch and some dimension and annotation placed on it. When I modify the CHILD part file from which the linked sketch is taken, all dimension and...
Hello John,
Thank you for your quick answer and for your suggestion.
I try to better summarize my situation:
- I have a .prt file with many parameters
- Then I go to Tools -> Spreadsheet and here I use the parameters by using the function "EXPRVAL" and prepare a table for the drafting
- Now I...
Good evening to all members of this wonderful forum!
I'm a mechanical engineer, I work for a centrifugal pump manufacturer and it's my first thread and my first post.
Now I come immediately to my question: I have a drafting with several tabular notes which are linked to the internal spreadsheet...
