I have two basic doubts.
First of all what is eigen value Problem / eigen value solution ?
Next is why this method is used for modal analysis? Is there any type of method can be used for modal analysis?
I have learned, heard,experienced that finite element analysis gives only an approximate solution .
Just i need to know that what are all the factors that leads to this approximation??
How can we improve the efficiency of FEA to the highest?

i need to do modal analysis of a sheet metal component. I simulated the component without applying damping.
The stress results that i obtained at correspondimg modal frequenies are very high. I think that this unrealistic stress is obtained because of not applying damping factor.

Usually i used to apply some percentage of damping during response analysis.now i need to two know things..
1.what does the term " representative values for damping" mean?
2.Is it differ from the way of mentioning the damping in certain percentage (say 2 or 3%)

But now my doubt is, Does the modal frequency values will differ with damping and without damping or will it remain same for both cases ...
