stookeyfpe, I have seen few of those rotor wheel installed. They were installed to provide access to the valve (open/close) from the floor. The valve where about 11 feet high and yes the were supervised. I guess I will have to hang my hat at the recommended 7 feet.
Thanks
Lou
OK, I have been looking to NFPA 13 for the maximum height to mount an test and control valve. NFPA 13 give this example A.8.16.2.5.2.1 An example of an accessible location would be a valve located approximately 7 ft (2.1 m) above the floor level
to which a hose could be connected to discharge...
Below is a recently completed job, actually not 100% complete with I posted the general information sign.
This will earn you a gold star. I'm having problem getting the contractor to proper post the hydraulic information and control valve signs as per NFPA para 8.16.1.1.8.
CDA, here are some of the answers to your questions.
There are a lot of variables to your question.
is it just a plain old warehouse? No, New build.
is it a high piled warehouse? Yes
what kind of sprinkler protection is used? Standards heads wet system. The pitch was to grade for ESFR...
CDAFD,
I was going to tell the GC to ask the FPE for his/her opinion. I bet the will say is mechanical stuff (we get a lot of that in here). I just want to educate myself a little more in this subject. I know they need to be capable of manual exhaust operations, but other than that nothing...
Guys, thanks for the replies,
The louver are going to be near the top of the wall. The warehouse is designed as high piled stock, at this time I'm not really sure if I want the fan/louver on or off during alarm activation. I'm still trying to research what will be the best option before, I meet...
Ok, I have search NFPA 13 and I cannot come up with anything except appendix C6. We are building 2 warehouse aprox 60,000 sq/ft each. They are putting two giant exhausts fan they will control Louvers on the side of the building. These fans will be used to help with climate control by removing...
SD50,
Thanks, for your answer. To tell you the true the plans does not show any installation details, of the bracing, calcs and not detail of the seismic bracing i.e angle and location ect. Lateral and long bracing were not within the distance specified in table 9.3.5, they had to be move to...
SDpaddler50.
At this point I'm not really concern, the building was accepted like that by someone else. I have never seen that done anywhere else, that ‘s what pick my curiosity. I was thinking in the same line of what peddarin said. Is this a common practice?
Is not an outside area, is an inside vehicle maintenance area with a wet system.
It is a military base. I know the newest UFC do not allow galvanize pipe at all. but this building was contracted few years ago.
I just came from a Building , in that building the contractor used a mix of galvanized and black pipe for an area. The system is a wet pipe system ordinary hazard(group 2). I have never seen the mix of regular black and galvanize pipe is this prohibit by the code. I was not able to find it in...
Travis,
The link in your post goes right back to this post, is there another post with seismic information?
Duwe6
What are you mean when you say drop-in's?

Lou
Travis,
I really appreciated your help and your knowledge. Let me clarify;
1. Is threaded rod straight up to the ceiling the rod has a nut anchoring the rod to the ceiling but not a washer. I know that the NFPA 13 in para 9.1.1.7.8 (and other places) specifically call for a washer but in that...
OK, I spend a whole hour and half looking for this and I was not able to find it(NFPA1 3). Here is what I'm looking for:
1. Threaded rod does it need a washer? ( I know it does but I want to make sure before I bring this up to installer).
2. Seismic brace screws does it need a washer?
3. Can...
