Suggested experience for SE Exam?
I've taken the new 16 hr SE Exam (Buildings) and passed. The test is heavily weighted toward seismic design category D. Design of masonry infill walls
My understanding of the MSJC 2011 Appendix B and the NCMA TEK 14-23 is that any and all masonry walls that fill in the open space of a concrete or steel framed building is considered "infill." Masonry Stair Walls and Connection to Primary Structure
I wander if the architect is applying the 2 hour fire SEPARATION rules to a 2 hour fire rated wall. The 2 hour fire separation intends for the structure to be separated from the fire wall, but I do not believe this should be applied to a fire rated stair well.- matth35
