    Pourbaix diagram question

    Hi, I am confused about construction of pourbaix diagrams. Simply, why are oxidizing conditions more positive & reducing conditions more negative? Seems different to the electrochemical series, where reducing elements (or more cathodic) are more positive. Thanks in advance for your clarifications.
